Zille to run for chair of DA's federal council
Former Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Helen Zille has thrown her hat into the ring for the position of chair of the party's federal council.
Zille - who was suspended from all party activities following a row over her controversial tweets on colonialism - put out a statement Facebook on Friday afternoon

The former Western Cape premier says she decided to run after being approached by several senior leaders in the party.
"In recent months, the DA has been through a period of turmoil and distress. As a party, it is important for us to reflect, to introspect and to begin the process of reconnecting with voters."
Zille says her main objective will be to stabilise the party, which lost support during this year’s general elections.
She also came under fire from certain sections of the DA following an opinion column calling for Western Cape premier Alan Winde to replace party leader Mmusi Maimane at the helm of the party.
