Zimbabwe's first lady a no show at court
Updated | By Slindelo Masikane
Zimbabwe's First Lady failed to make her first appearance in court on Tuesday.
Grace Mugabe has been charged with common assault and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
This is after she allegedly attacked two women at a Sandton hotel who she found with her two sons.
It is still unclear whether the First Lady was in the country using her diplomatic passport.
From the onset, it was unclear where Grace Mugabe would make her first appearance. This is despite Police Minister Fikile Mbalula confirming she had handed herself over to police and would appear in Wynberg.
"I cannot just go to Zimbabwe and beat up people there, and the matter will disappear." Mbalula said.
The African Diaspora Forums's Marc Gbaffou says this incident ' says a lot about the first lady of Zimbabwe.
"This is an expression of arrogance from people who don't consider their subordinates as outer human beings. They abuse their power. She left the country but that is image is now out there" Gbaffou said.
