Zondo commission should subpoena Zuma, says DA
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The Democratic Alliance (DA) wants the commission of inquiry into state capture to use its power to subpoena former president Jacob Zuma to appear before the inquiry.
Zuma, who was scheduled to return to the commission this week, said last week that he would be unable to testify due to ill health.
"While no-one has the right to invalidate any person’s state of health, the reality is that Zuma has been successfully evading accountability for years,” says the DA’s Glynnis Breytenbach.
"The DA calls on Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo to use his Commission’s subpoena powers to force Zuma to appear before it, so that accountability and justice will not be delayed.”

Speaking on the first day of the Africa Investment Forum in Sandton on Monday, Makhura said the government recognises that the informal sector is a large part of employment across the continent. "Africa's greatest resources are its people, its youthful population and the entrepreneurial and resilient women of Africa.
Zuma, meanwhile, took to Twitter at the weekend to thank South Africans for their well wishes “during this difficult time”.
Thank you all for the well wishes. Your messages have been overwhelming during this difficult time.
