Zondo, Mabuyane ‘whistleblower’ arrested for perjury
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
The Hawks have arrested a 30-year-old suspect for allegedly making false claims of bribery and corruption against Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo and Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane.

The first case against Zondo was opened in Gauteng in February 2021, and the case against Mabuyane was opened in East London in March 2021.
Eastern Cape Hawks spokesperson Yolisa Mgolodela says Mabuyane subsequently opened a case of crimen injuria against the alleged whistleblower.
“The investigators tried getting hold of the whistleblower for clarity on the allegations presented and was later traced and interviewed, wherein he admitted having been used by some individuals to make false allegations against the pair.
“Investigators were in the process of obtaining further information from the suspect including his electronic gadgets to assist the probe until he again disappeared until his recent arrest.”
The suspect will appear in the East London Magistrates’ court on Thursday on charge of perjury.
