Zuma allegedly benefitted from Prasa capture, Zondo commission hears

The commission of inquiry onto state capture has heard that former president Jacob Zuma is set to be implicated in alleged corruption at the Passenger Rail Agency (Prasa).
The agency, which is currently under administration, has been plagued by allegations of maladministration and fraud.
Evidence leader, Advocate Vas Soni, opened the Prasa leg of the evidence on Wednesday and told the commission that the evidence points to the capturing of the entity.

He said the alleged corruption was committed under the leadership of former CEO Lucky Montana.
"Between July 2007 and June 2009 an entity directly linked to Mr. Roy Moodley paid some R64 000 a month to Mr. Jacob Zuma, until just about the time Mr. Zuma become President in 2009. The total amount that was paid by this company to Mr. Zuma in installments is more than R1.5 million," said Soni.
He said from 2010 the security company linked to Moodley started getting contracts from Prasa and has been paid more than R471 million.
