Zuma and Walusz judgment a miscarriage of justice says Masina

African National Congress (ANC) chairperson in the
City of Ekurhuleni, Mzwandile Masina, has described a decision by the country’s courts on Janusz
Walus and former President Jacob Zuma as a
“miscarriage of justice”.
On Monday, the Constitutional Court ruled that Chris Hani’s killer, Walus, should be released on parole after he served 28 years behind bars at the Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Services.
He was sentenced to life behind bars.
On the other hand, the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) found on the same day that Zuma’s release in 2021 from the Estcourt Correctional Services was unlawful after he spent only three months in prison.
Speaking at the memorial lecture which paid tribute to late ANC stalwart Bertha Gxowa in Katlehong east of Johannesburg on Wednesday, Masina encouraged members of the party to march to the judiciary.
“A miscarriage of justice has occurred. They say on the same day, when they know what is on the agenda, but they decide that on the same day we are jailing the freedom figher, is the same day that we will release someone who murdered Chris Hani.
“This comrade, if we don’t stand up and march to the judiciary because they must be sensitive. We need the truth from Janus Walus. Why did he murder? Why did he pull the trigger? Who sent him?”
Meanwhile, ANC Presidential hopeful Dr Zweli Mkhize also expressed his sentiments on the two matters.
He says South Africans are still reeling from the death of Hani who was gunned down in 1993 at the front of his house in Dawn Park, Boksburg.

Meanwhile the ConCourt has ordered in its judgment that Walus be released from prison within ten days of the ruling on 21 November 2022.
The Department of Correctional Services says it will challenge the SCA decision regarding the medical parole of former President Zuma.
