The NPA says a senior and highly skilled team has been established to consider Zuma's representations.

"We confirm the national director has appointed a team of prosecutors, led by the director of public prosecutions in KwaZulu-Natal, Moipone Noko, to consider the matter and make recommendations to him.

"As and when he deems it necessary to brief the South African public, he will do so," says NPA spokesperson Luvuyo Mfaku.

The NPA had given President Zuma until 30 November to make his representations.

It comes after the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) dismissed Zuma and the NPA's application to appeal a High Court ruling that the 2009 decision to drop 783 charges against him was irrational.

DA Federal Council chairperson, James Selfe, says the opposition made representations as to why the charges should be reinstated as consequence of the North Gauteng High Court judgement.

"We believe the only material change that has happened since the charges were brought against Mr Zuma in 2007 has been the affliction of time and that has largely been caused by Mr Zuma himself through a series of court cases that have wasted a great deal of public money."

"Our view is that the charges should be reinstated immediately and President Zuma gets a day in court as he has always asked for," Selfe adds.
