Zuma is MK Party’s only presidential candidate, says Khanyile

Former president Jacob Zuma will be the newly formed MK Party's presidential candidate during the upcoming general elections.
That's according to the leader of the party's Youth League, Bonginkosi Khanyile, who addressed the media in Johannesburg on Wednesday.
The former president is candidate number one on the Umkhonto we Sizwe Party list for the National Assembly in the 29 May polls, despite the IEC saying people sentenced to more than 12 months' imprisonment are ineligible to stand for the elections.
Khanyile, who is accused of inciting the July 2021 riots, said the party is not willing to negotiate over Zuma’s position.
"We are not open for any engagements.
"Don't call us at night, don't call us in clubs at night, don't buy us nice things and try to woo us for any engagements. We are unavailable.
"The minute you start to open your mouth and say let’s talk on who is going to be the presidential candidate of MK, and you don't mention the name of President Jacob Zuma, we drop the call.”
