Zuma sends condolences to families of bus crash victims
Updated | By ANA
President Jacob Zuma on Monday extended his condolences to the relatives of the 11 African National Congress (ANC) members who died in a bus crash in the Free State as they were returning from the ruling party’s manifesto launch in Port Elizabeth.
“”We are still in deep shock. This is a loss not for the ANC only but the country as a whole. We also extend our condolences as well to the families of the three people who died when the vehicle in which they were travelling crashed into a river in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday,” Zuma said in a statement.
“We are with all the families that have lost their loved ones tragically and in this most painful manner. We urge the nation to keep the families in their thoughts and prayers.”
The bus passengers, from Vosloorus and Katlehong in Gauteng, died when the bus they were travelling in rolled after it veered off the N1 between Ventersburg and Winburg in the Free State. At least 59 people were injured. - ANA
