SA - Show some love to the Blitzboks

Unlike the hype surrounding our other national brands or Olympic/Paralympic teams, the Blitzboks are used to sneaking quietly back into the country after a notable triumph.

In what has become commonplace for this incredible band of brothers, they have remained under the radar and returned home to a virtually empty arrivals hall at local airports.

SA Rugby have produced an amazing video featuring the Blitzboks on their return and it has been posted on the SA Rugby social media pages.

The video anticipates their arrival to an empty terminal building with the International Sevens trophy in tow. Sadly there were so few people to welcome them on this occasion.

Perhaps that is the hallmark of a winning team -- shift the focus entirely to the task at hand, get on with the job of winning and make the nation proud with as little fuss as possible.

But not this time -- it is time for the nation to hail their winners and show their appreciation. Fans are urged to turn up in their numbers when the Blitzboks really arrive home on Tuesday (23 May) at 10am at Cape Town International Airport.

Maybe the Springboks, who have a defining three-Test series against France ahead of them, should follow the Blitzboks' example reflected in the video and also steer well clear of negativity and the fuss and fanfare of the media and supporters and just get on with the job at hand.

Because, that, it seems, is a winning recipe to take straight out of the Blitzboks' amazing book.
