Chiefs regained momentum after defeating rivals Orlando Pirates at FNB stadium in February.

Kaizer Chiefs communication manager Vina Maphosa says, despite the coronavirus crisis, the team still aspires to lift the trophy when the league resumes.

“In terms of aspirations, as you will recall, that the beginning of these measures and precautions of averting this disaster, we were on top of the league and riding the crest of the wave. Indications were that we were going to contest for the league honours and possibly win the league.”

Maphosa adds that the players are provided with training programmes during the lockdown.

“As things stands, as Kaizer Chiefs, we will wait and work each day as it comes. The players are provided with training programmes, working together and keeping in touch via technology with their coach, trainers, physicians, and on that note we believe our players are professional enough and they will come back to battle on.

“We are at the stage where we are waiting and to see that the curve of the spreading of the virus is flattened,” adds Maphosa.
