SuperSport, Pirates clash postponed

The Absa Premiership match between SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates on Tuesday evening was postponed due to floodlight failure.

The match was stopped in the 63rd minute with hosts SuperSport leading the Buccaneers 1 – 0 courtesy of a Michael Boxall goal in the 22nd minute.

The lights at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane went out in the second half. Initially thought to be as a result of load-shedding, the match officials and players waited for the generators to kick in, but they never did.

It was later revealed that the flood lights had failed due to a technical fault.

The clash between the two sides will resume on Wednesday at 12h00 with 27 minutes remaining on the clock and the Pretoria side holding a 1 – 0 lead.
