Helpmekaar students are taking a stand against homophobia and stereotypes

A number of students are speaking out and shaving their hair in order to bring awareness to those being affected by bullying through being gay and stereotypes.
Bullying in schools has been an ongoing act that has affected the lives of many pupils.
Recently, news broke regarding a possible severe case of bullying, after the death of a primary school learner from a school in Benoni on the East Rand. The Gauteng Education Department is currently investigating the matter.
Jannes Erasmus, from the theater production 'Vir.Ander', posted a few videos to his Facebook page showing a number of students from Helpmekaar Kollege shaving their heads in an act to stand up against bullying.
Martin and Tumi spoke to Xander, a pupil from Helpmekaar Kollege who lost a friend due to bullying because he was gay, about them taking a stand.
