In most cases, it’s frowned upon not to tip a waiter or waitress at a restaurant, but what if that waiter or waitress flirts with your partner?

According to the New York Post, a waitress was left with a passive-aggressive note rather than an actual tip after the patron felt the waitress flirted with her husband.

The note, "Don’t call my husband sweetheart", was written on the $32.76 bill in the part where the tip was supposed to be written.

The original image was posted with the caption, “Well, it may be a tip, but she's just trying to make a living”, and has been spread all across social media.

This situation divided social media users, with some agreeing and others calling out the woman for being petty.

"What an insecure b*tch. On a side note, tipping should be abolished. Pay your staff a living wage. Servers shouldn’t be held hostage by assholes like this woman," one social media user commented.

Another said: "In the southern US, everyone is called honey, sweety, sweetheart and my personal favourite, 'sugar'."

"You know how many times I’ve been called hon or sweetie, or sweetheart by a waitress? Well, not a lot. But, when it happens it’s always because it’s so into their vocabulary that they say that to everyone. It’s just how they end certain sentences. I didn’t think much of it," another person added.

Another user said: "This is the reason the civilized countries got rid of tip-based jobs."
