Getting your child vaccinated: Do they need consent?

The total number of fully vaccinated adults in South Africa has reached 11-million mark.
Statistics released by the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) on 19 October 2021, show that a total of 11,036,021 adults of 18 years and older are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
This is a representation of 27.73% of the country’s population.

South Africa is making provision to vaccinate half of the country’s 6.5-million children between the ages of 12 and 17.
The Gauteng government wants kids to be vaccinated at schools and Premier David Makhura has said "we are urging parents to consent".
