After recovering from a terrible crash in 2013 that put her in a coma for 11 days, SA’s Kirsten Landman thought she would never  compete on a motorcycle again.

Landman joined Breakfast with Martin Bester to share more.

"I've been a bit of a tomboy when I grew up. My father brought me a bike - and the rest is history.  I'm the only biker in the family and my family is very supportive.'

"I had a life-threatening crash in Botswana - and my doctor still can't believe how I'm still alive.

"To overcome my fear of speed after the accident, I decided to do the Dakar Rally."

Landman is now the first woman from Africa and third woman overall to ever have finished the Dakar on a motocycle.
