WhatsApp group admins might face legal implications following updates
New updates to the popular messaging platform, WhatsApp, will give group admins more control but could have legal implications!
On 1 September, instant messaging giant WhatsApp rolled out a new update giving group admins more control over groups.
This will include having more power over the content shared in groups.

Group admins will be able to control the content shared in the group with the added benefit of deleting messages.
The time people have to delete messages has also been extended from a few hours to a couple of days.
According to Business Tech, social media law expert Emma Sadleir Berkowitz stated that these changes could have legal implications on group admins.

“If you’re the admin of a WhatsApp group, because of this recent change, you become legally responsible for everything that appears on that group,” she said.
She added that group admins could be held liable for hate speech, threats, incitement, or any other illegal content shared on groups as they now have more control over the content.
