Danni Adams, a 30-year-old American woman, made headlines when she decided to marry herself.

Adams had nine bridesmaids during the ceremony, where she even said vows to herself.

“I am not the only one getting married today,” she told her guests.

The 30-year-old put a bag with a ring under each guest's chair and asked them to marry themselves too.

“I now pronounce you married to yourself.”

Adams was also featured on an episode of the popular US talk show, 'Dr Phil', where she spoke about her motivation to marry herself.

She told Dr Phil that she had to overcome a lot of trauma in her life, which inspired her to marry herself.

“I realised I wasn’t living for myself, and this wedding was my chance to start over,” she told Dr Phill.

Of course, Adams received a lot of backlash for her decision, but she told Dr Phil that “there is no such thing as overdoing celebrating yourself.”

“Some people buy themselves a bag, something people get themselves a Cruz, I got myself a wedding.”

You’ve probably heard about polygamy and monogamy, but what Adams decided to go with is sologamy.

According to the Dr Phil show, sologamy, also known as “self-marriage” or “self-partnering", is a symbolic ceremony where a person commits to a meaningful and loving relationship with themselves and a promise to give themselves what they often seek from other people.
