There's nothing as soul-sucking as realising you have lost your ID or passport and you now have to brave those offices in the hope that the system isn't down.
Luckily for South African-born citizens, there are now 27 bank branches across the country that offer ID and passport renewal services, with more possibly on the way soon.

Note: Before visiting one of these branches, please contact them beforehand as branches may close or only offer one service rather than the other. Booking is mandatory.
You can apply for, process, and collect your Smart ID or passport at the following branches:
GAUTENG
WESTERN CAPE
LIMPOPO
EASTERN CAPE
NORTHERN CAPE
KWAZULU-NATAL
MPUMALANGA
