Relationships are all about compromise.

If you love someone, you are usually more willing to put up with their strange habits, their passions, and all the other special things that make them who they are.

And they will hopefully feel the same about you.

But what do you do when your partner is disgusted by something you barely have any control over?

There are a few aspects of the human body that have been perceived as gross and taboo for the longest time, although they are completely natural bodily functions.

Usually, women bear the brunt of these taboos as periods, burping, or a number two are seen as disgusting, whereas men can often get away with letting one rip in public and the response being laughter.

In a relationship, you shouldn't have to hide anything from your partner, much less have to pretend that your body doesn't go through the same processes as theirs.

Unfortunately for one Reddit poster, she has been made to feel ashamed about her bodily functions by her boyfriend.

The anonymous poster wrote to the popular Reddit thread, 'Am I The A**hole' (AITA), and asked for some much-needed advice.

According to her, she has passed gas in front of her partner multiple times while in their home. Every time she does, he gets upset and tells her that it is "unladylike".

She wanted to find out whether he was being ridiculous or if she needed to change her behaviour.

This is a reminder to anyone, of any gender, in a relationship: if you can't be yourself around them, then it's time to take a step back and reevaluate the situation.
