Two videos were shared on Caxton EastSouth’s YouTube page which show a couple narrowly escaping a hijacking in Robertsham.

The first video, which has been widely shared, shows the couple pulling into their business when an Audi blocks them in. One hijacker, dressed in all black, got out of the Audi with a gun, ran towards the couple’s Mercedes Benz, and attempted to open the driver’s locked door.

One of the accomplices then came out of the Audi and ran towards the passenger side of the Mercedes Benz with a gun in hand. The video then shows the couple reversing, and trying to get away from the hijackers. The Mercedes Benz pushes past the Audi, visibly damaging the hijacker’s car before speeding away. After the whole thing, the hijackers drove away in the opposite direction.

The second video, from the dash-cam shows a different angle from the occupants’ view.

We spoke to Tiaan Coetzer, the victim of the attempted hijacking, and he told us that those 15 seconds felt like a lifetime. Coetzer says he was in the passenger's seat and his wife was the one driving the car at the time. He says his wife noticed the strange car first and they both made the decision to get out of the situation.

Coetzer says if you're in that situation and see an opportunity to get out, you should. They took a chance and it paid off.
