What started out as a fun evening turned into a nightmare when Sterna Lewis and Mario Engelbrecht were robbed in their home in Amberfield Valley Estate in Centurion.

According to reports by Rekord, Lewis said she and Engelbrecht were live streaming when three men, one of them armed, suddenly broke into their study.

“One of them grabbed my headset [while I was busy game streaming] and I turned around only to face a man with a firearm. They told us to get down on the floor and remain calm,” Lewis told Rekord.

The couple's children were in a different room when the robbery took place.

“One of them brought our children. My eldest son, who is 12, was quite shocked when he saw us lying on the ground because he thought they had killed us. He shouted at them, ‘what have you done?’ We then told our children we were fine and that they must lie down on the ground with us.”

The children were also tied up while Engelbrecht's face was covered and feet tied.

The intruders took both of their car keys, cellphones, plasma TV, laptops, and other valuables.

A fellow gamer, Jaco Viljoen, who was on the stream when the robbery took place, suspected something was wrong and took a drive to the couple's property to investigate.

Viljoen was accompanied by the estate’s security officers to check on the house. According to Lewis, the robbers must have heard the security officers and decided to run away because they left the car with everything they had packed into it.
