Child behavioural specialists are seeing an increase in parents sending children for help with video game addiction, specifically with players who get hooked on Fortnite.

According to Lorrine Marer, "This game is like heroin. Once you are hooked, it’s hard to get unhooked."

One nine-year-old girl reportedly started doing badly at school and losing sleep over the game. The situation was at its worst when "she lashed out and hit her father in the face".

This comes in the wake of a report in the Wall Street Journal that detailed some parents' quest to give their children "the necessary skills to become professional Esports gamers", by hiring tutors who would give them the competitive edge.

The developers of Fortnite, Epic Games, has not responded to this latest criticism of their game.
