Crook effortlessly disarms electric fence

Technology has come a long way and most new security measures are virtually impenetrable, but after watching this video you might want to double-check any electric fences that you put up around your home.
The suspect, who is as yet unidentified, is seen walking up to the fence with two sticks in his hands. He approaches the gate and uses the two sticks to disarm the electric fence. He then proceeds to climb over it and onto the property.
How could he have known that the two sticks, presumably made of wood, were all he would need to breach the property's security?
This may perhaps be a flaw in the design of the electric fence, but one thing is for sure: which criminals becoming slier each day, security companies may need to re-evaluate their strategies.
