In 2000, former Springbok rugby player, Hannes Strydom, who is a pharmacist himself, started Pharma Valu pharmacies.

Strydom was part of the Springbok team between 1993 and 1997.

The group started off with a small store in Esselen Street, Pretoria. With great vision and perseverance, Hannes Strydom, chief executive officer (CEO), and his brilliant minded small team have grown the group into a well-known household name.

Pharma Valu has pushed beyond its boundaries and strived for nothing less than greatness, no matter how difficult it became at times.

Currently, Pharma Valu has nine branches located across Gauteng - of which six of those branches are located in Pretoria - Queenswood, Sunnyside, Elarduspark, Die Hoek, Kilnerpark and Menlo Park.

Another two branches in Johannesburg - Florida Junction and Northwold and then the last one being in Bromhof.

Strydom joined the Scenic Drive to talk about the pharmacies. Strydom and Rian van Heerden also reminisced about the good old days.
