Harry gave his mother's ring to William to propose to Kate

Prince Charles allowed his sons to select pieces from their mother's jewelry collection following her death and it is believed that the sapphire ring went to Harry.

Prince Harry gave up Princess Diana's engagement ring to his older brother Prince William, the new 'The Diana Story' documentary claims. 

Prince Harry selflessly gave up his mother Princess Diana's engagement ring so Prince William could propose to Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge.

Prince Charles allowed his sons to select pieces from their mother's jewelry collection following her tragic death in 1997 and it is believed that the sapphire ring went to Harry.

This kind gesture meant that Harry was unable to present the ring to his now-wife, Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, when he proposed to her in 2017.

According to reports, Harry designed the engagement ring himself using two diamonds that had belonged to Diana, alongside a central stone from Botswana, where he and Meghan had been on holiday.

On Thursday, William and Kate celebrated their 10-year wedding anniversary. 

Second-in-line to the throne William and Kate married at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011, after first meeting at university and then dating for more than seven years.

They now have three children; seven-year-old Prince George, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, three.
