Jimmy Fallon's 'Whisper Challenge' gets a Scenic Drive twist
Updated | By The Scenic Drive with Rian
Everyone on The Scenic Drive with Rian talks for a living - but how are their listening skills?
There's no better way to get to know your co-workers than to really listen when they talk to you. You need to be able to tune into the conversation - that's the only way to ensure that you all get along and work well together. But what happens if there are one too many obstacles in your way?
The Scenic Drive team explored this concept of listening to each other and decided that a game played on 'The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon' called the "Whisper Challenge" would be the ultimate way to test everyone's listening skills. And, according to Rian, it's also a great way to get to know what's really going on in your colleagues' psyches. After all, the very nature of a Freudian slip is that you can't control how honest you're being in a particular moment.
Here are the rules of the game:
There is a set of headphones in-studio that plays out instrumental music. You won’t be able to hear what anyone in studio says. There is a purple Jacaranda FM hat containing various everyday phrases. Each week there will be a theme: this week we are going shopping and we might even go out for a meal.
THEME: Shopping and eating out.
One contestant puts on the headphones while a second draws a phrase from the hat. You then have to say the phrase out loud and the contestant wearing the headphones has to try and guess out loud, what you are saying.

Rian, Marcelle, Thabiso, and Marius already know how to talk up a storm during a debate, but now we get to see what their listening skills are really like!
Listeners joined in the fun, suggesting their own phrases and tongue twisters for the team to try. The results were very entertaining.
Rian feels he wasn't given a fair chance in both rounds, but could it be that he is just bad at reading people's lips?
Stay tuned to The Scenic Drive with Rian each week as we play a new round of the lip-reading game.
