'The Talk' is taking a break from filming after a heated debate between co-hosts Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood

Osbourne defended her friend, Piers Morgan, who has been criticising the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, on social media for several years.

Osbourne asked Underwood to explain when Morgan had been racist in his discussion of Markle. Underwood said it was Morgan's tone rather than his words, saying he was questioning her experience during the tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Osbourne's defence led to an intense debate with Underwood, who pushed back on Osbourne's downplaying of Morgan's comments.

Osbourne apologised days after for her "panicked" remarks on air.

CBS confirmed that 'The Talk' would be taking a brief break while the network conducts an internal investigation into the argument.
