Serena Reynoldson was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison after footage of her killing her ex partner's tropical fish with household bleach.
Serena Reynoldson, a mother of four from Witney, Oxfordshire, had, had enough of her ex-partner John Fitzpatrick cheating on her and leaving her alone with the family responsibilities and decided to teach him a cruel lesson.
Serena took her anger out on John's tropical fish, pouring more than one litre of household bleach into their tank while saying: "go on, drink it. Die." She sent the footage to John over WhatsApp.
As the fish die Serena says: "If I can't have hobbies or a life, you can't have them either".
Following the incident Serena appeared before the Oxford Magistrates Court, where she claimed that she had been "suffering from stress and anxiety" when she killed the fish. She was handed a lifetime ban from keeping fish as pets as well as an 18-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
A defending lawyer told the court that Serena "regrets her actions and has taken steps to address her emotional stability".
