Monkey mauls newborn baby to death in India
Updated | By High School Hits Classics with Barney Simon
A family in Agra, India tragically lost their newborn grandson after a monkey entered their home and bit the baby in the head.

The people of Agra, the Indian city that is home to the famous Taj Mahal, are living in constant fear of monkeys. There is a large population of the animals in the area, and residents are wary of them: "They come in search of food, but they snatch and attack as well."
The latest incident of a monkey attacking happened when a monkey wandered into a family's home and snatched a newborn baby away from the breast of its mother, who was feeding her child at the time. The monkey bit the baby in the head, gripping it in its mouth until villagers gave chase. When the monkey realised it was being chased, it "dropped the badly bitten child on a neighbour's roof."
The baby was taken to hospital, where he, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries.
Pushpa Devi, the baby's grandmother, spoke on behalf of the distraught family, saying they would never recover: “I have lost my grandson. Just a few hours before the monkey attacked our baby, I had him in my arms. Our baby didn’t have to die."
