Barney & Friends was a favourite for many children until it came to an end in 2009. Did you watch Barney when you were young, and do you think it should return?
With the help of a few very talented kids - Alex Furguson, Obetegile Makakase, Oratile Makakase and Olive Kimbrell - from The Pretoria Youth Theatre in Irene, Centurion, we see if we will find the right Barney.
Barney & Friends is a children's show that first started on television back in 1992. The show featured a friendly purple dinosaur who conveyed educational messages through song and dance with an optimistic attitude.
The series came to and end in 2009 and reruns of the show aired in the US from 2005 to 2015. A few weeks ago it was confirmed that new episodes of the Barney & Friends show would be filmed and will be airing soon.
We asked technical producer Willem to put together a piece showcasing the three unlikeliest candidates that could have auditioned for the role of the purple dinosaur. One candidate was an actual T-rex, the other was Barney Stintson from How I Met Your Mother, and Jacaranda FM's very own Barney Simon.
