Mark Lottering in the shoes of an 80s SA Idols Judge
In his shows he plays a character called Galatia Geduld, who is determined to be the next Mariah Carey. She tried her hand at Idols but was told she didn’t have the right look. Meanwhile she is a dancer at Mavericks. So with Marc poking fun at Idols, we thought it would be a good idea to imagine him as an idols judge for a day, judging 3 acts from the 80’s.
Listen to what happens when he judges:
Brenda Fassie’s Weekend Special and Ricardo’s Daddy.
Sonja Herholdt - Waterblommetjies
Getting to know Marc through his hair
“… [I’m] tired of having to translate stuff because it takes away from who I am [as a comedian], it takes away from the spirit of the story”
Marc talks about the down side to living with such popular hair, the reason why he no longer wants to do shows overseas and taking pleasure in being you.
Finding the humour in the most grim situations
Marc is challenged to page through the first 3 pages of a newspaper and give a story of his choice a positive spin. Will he be able to pull it off?
