South Africa's most admired people will take you by surprise

When you think of the most admired South African's you automatically think that they would be, musicians, media personalties or sportsmen.

However according to global market research firm, YouGov, the results of its 2016 “most admired” rankings, reveal very surprising individuals.

The list is determined through a nominations process and based on two questions “who do you truly admire?” and “who do you MOST admire?”

For the third year in a row, the world’s richest man, Bill Gates, was voted the most admired man in the world and Hollywood actress and humanitarian, Angelina Jolie was ranked as the most admired woman.

The South African stats however show a completely different light. Trevor Noah was ranked as the most admired South African man in the country, while Public Protector, advocate Thuli Madonsela was the most admired woman in the country.
