Can you imagine what people would say if they knew the type of things on our delicacy food list?

They might not seem very interested in tasting what's on our plate, but that's the thing about food, especially heritage dishes, not everyone will like it or be willing to try it, but it's part of a community's roots.

From mopane worms to tripe, we are gifted as a nation with interesting dishes as part of our heritage. Asians, however, are in another league when it comes to delicacies. From grilled ice cubes to bullfrogs, they have their fair share of unusual dishes on the list.

We came across a new one that made the list, and we are not sure people will agree with its popularity. A content creator who owns the space of coconut worms has shared several videos of herself eating this dish.

In the video posted by Rendell Avila, we see her diving into a bowl of coconut worm salad. After taking a bite of the salad, she nods in enjoyment.

The coconut worms are still alive and raw, but are paired with fresh salad ingredients such as red onion, bell peppers and chilli.

Ben Tre coconut worms are considered a delicacy that is not always available in the countryside of Ben Tre, Vietnam. It might be a daring food choice that not everyone cares to enjoy, but it is referred to as a rustic dish rich in nutrients.

According to Vemekong.com, "One can find these coconut weevils in coconut trees. During the breeding season, weevils often choose healthy coconut trees to cut out the tops to produce eggs. The eggs hatch into larvae, then develop and eat coconut tubers to survive. Today, coconut worms have become one of the most precious dishes of culinary connoisseurs."
