With the recent talk of the petrol price decrease as we greet the new month of August, it is great news for motorists.

In fact, it is news welcomed by everyone because as you know, the price of fuel affects everything.

But just as a reminder as to how things can go terribly wrong at the petrol station, we wanted to share this story with you.

A Reddit user shared an image of what they had to see when they returned to the petrol pump after asking the attendant to fill the car up with R300.

But it seems things went way over with the price per litre being R24.90 and reaching a total of R2,797.14...

For that amount, the person received 112 litres of petrol. So it seems they drive a large sized vehicle.

And all this happened whilst on their way to a date...

The patron paid forward R1,000 and told the attendant that he would pay the balance on the first of the month.

When asked about it by other users, he shared that he had to go back home for his card and used his savings to pay the total of R1,000.

This story prompted others to share their own experiences.
