We have heard many, many stories of how people used their time during lockdown to start up businesses, lose weight, and so much more.

But this is by far one of the most extreme things we have heard. A mechanical engineer, Ashok Thamarakshan from Alappuzha district of Kerala, India, has us shocked at his innovation.

He got the idea to build an aircraft when the pandemic first hit, and built a temporary workshop in his house in London.

The idea came from trying to avoid traffic blocks. Sounds like quite an extreme method to undertake to avoid traffic, and we are certain that most Gauteng residents can understand.

According to MSN, it was always a dream of his to take his family on trips with an aircraft. Since hiring an aircraft was quite a costly option, he built one. They have flown across four countries and the aircraft is capable of flying across the continent.

"The plane with four seats, one on which he flew to various countries is made at an expenditure of €140 000 euros (about R2.3m)." (MSN)

We hear people who joke about owning their own aircraft, but never building one.

Thamarakshan's success story in flying his family to countries such as Germany, France, and Italy has taught us that anything is possible when you have the passion and the means...
