Car theft is something that is evolving. From remote jamming to organised crime, criminals are finding ways around everything.

This case was not just an attempt at stealing but also revealed a creative reason for the wrongdoing by the suspect.

We immediately associated this with that age old fib where kids would say that the dog ate their homework.

And as much as that sounds like an excuse, we can imagine with the way things are going, that he may have just been the fall guy.

Recently, we heard about a new way of stealing cars. One that doesn't even require your key, and if you have a tracking device, there is even a way around that - a signal jammer.

According to the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department, Tsakane precinct officers apprehended the suspect after reports of the stolen vehicle were received.

But the man stuck to his story saying that he was "requested by some guys to take the light delivery vehicle to the nearest car wash.” (IOL)

We live in a time that is unsafe and that is a reality that we have to live with. So, always remain vigilant and follow your instincts.
