Who said doing homework with your kids can't be fun?

We are the generation of parents who must change how things are done. Our kids rely on us to flip the script in parenting, beat the status quo and be revolutionary.

Whether we are all up to the task is challenging in itself. However, one mother from Bloemfontein is showing us how it's done.

She shared a video that's been getting A's all around. In the video, we see her helping her daughter with homework. But it's no ordinary homework session

One person said, "Oh, this is the kind of mother I’m going to be", in response to the mother's approach to homework. Sound inspiring enough?

The video shows the mother and child sitting on the bed doing homework. The mother holds a spray bottle with water. Each time the child gets an answer wrong, the mother sprays her daughter with the water.

The young girl bursts into laughter each time she is squirted with water. Funny as it might be, the girl is motivated to do better because of the water spray bottle.

While it may look like fun and games, it is a successful method for this mother and child. It helps create a comfortable environment for the child while motivating her to learn.

One person shared how this method was genius. It allowed the child to enjoy homework and normalised making mistakes. The mother said: "I also found that she learns better in such a comfortable situation."

Another person added: "This is how it’s supposed to be done, rather than shouting at a child, belittling them, and calling them names!"

"Awww making homework fun yessss mom!"

"I always give a bombastic side eye; it also works, and we high-five after she has graduated from her work, teacher mom. I must confess I did the shouting but realised it made my child lose focus, so the bombastic eye and straight face with my little smirk is my cure that's working."
