Shopper jokes about 'ankle monitors' on Jacobs coffee

With the cost of everything rising and the crime stats increasing, these are more of an investment for retailers than a fashion accessory...

We all know that buying our favourite brands is something of a treat as we head towards payday.

It is definitely something we all look forward to, but just as it is a treat for us on payday, it is also a high-risk item for thieves who walk around with sticky fingers.

Therefore it is not unusual for us to see certain items with individual security tags attached to them.

Taking into account the cost to retailers when small items are stolen without notice, the losses certainly add up.

And when it comes to coffee, we understand that even the more affordable jars have escalated as of late.

One TikToker has taken to social media to address these security tags, making the funniest comparison.

As she shopped at a Pick n Pay store in Cape Town, she videoed a shelf packed with Jacobs Kronung coffee.

She asks: "What is this on the Jacobs coffee? Did I just not notice this before?"

WATCH the video below, as TikToker @beautehub asks people if the coffee jars are now walking around with ankle monitors.

People were left rolling on the floor laughing at her insinuation. We have to agree, it is a great comparison.

What is more funny is the fact that people have actually provided explanations.

Check out some of the comments:

alvinamissglobal: "Its a tag to not steal them🤣😂"

Dawood0531: "coffee prices shot up double the price in a year"

Charne: "it's so expensive so people steal it so it's like an alarm"

Robocopjedi: "Lol iv seen a pick and pay where they lock the Jacob’s coffee at the back behind a glass shelf"
