Have a look and add your own to the list below.
1. Learn water safety - From a young age, you should invest in teaching little ones how to be safe around water and teach them how to swim.
2. Brush their teeth – This will help them learn personal hygiene and help them develop great health habits.
3. Learn to say “Please” and “Thank you.” - These are the most basic manners everyone should have.
4. Put their toys away – This could teach them to be more responsible for their own environment.
5. Know how to access emergency services by dialling “10111.” They should also be able to memorize your home address by the age of 4.
6. Help clean up messes - You will thank us for this. Children should learn how to clean up after themselves, it shows respect for their space and the people around them.
7. Help set the table, clear the table, and wash dishes.
8. Keep track of their school items – including homework, lunchbox bag and uniform. If your child forgets their schoolbag or their homework, or they lose their lunchbox, you can’t rescue them every time. They should learn to be responsible for their belongings.
9. Make their own bed - Create a routine for your kids, when they get up in the morning, teach them to tidy up. They will thank you later.
10. Wash a car - This can start earlier when helping mom or dad at first.
11. Put air in a tire - They aren’t driving by the age of 12 but this helps prepare them for when they will be in just a few years.
12. Find specific ways to experience and express gratitude - Your children will be happier adults if they're able to feel and show their gratitude.
