Very rarely do we hear about childhood sweetheart stories where they lose touch and try to find each other after years apart.

Because most of the time, life happens and you find that people move on. Thinking about their first love stories is just a mere memory.

But not for this man. He couldn't let go of his childhood sweetheart and didn't stop searching for her.

As much as it sounds like something out of a romance novel, rest assured it is a true story.

Nicolas went as far as sending his story to a French TV Show called, 'Only The Truth Matters (La Vie)' and being invited to the show.

On the show he shared the story of how he was looking for his childhood sweetheart, Danielle.

After her parents had divorced, she came to his town and lived there for a year and half. Thereafter she went back to another town to live with her father.

The show was able to track Danielle down and actually asked her if she wanted to come onto the show.

At first she did not know who was there looking for her, but as she received clues from audience members, her memory served up an answer. When she saw him, she instantly recognised him as her first love.

The two had remained in contact after she left his town, but Nicolas had in fact told her that they could no longer speak as he liked another girl. This ended the communication between the two and only later did he realise that she meant so much to him.

It was so sweet and romantic to see the two of them hold hands after 12 years.

More than that, it was endearing to watch Nicolas stay true on his journey to find her and admitting his feelings so openly.
