Woman shares the importance of reading product prices properly

When you don't read the price sticker and think you are saving, but you are actually not...
Grocery shopping has become more challenging over the years. Over and above the cost of groceries, misleading advertising has always been a tactic followed by many retailers.
Decades ago, advertisers used psychology pricing to mislead shoppers into believing they were saving by paying R9.99 instead of R10,00 for a product.
This tactic is still used today, but some retailers have elevated their deceptive pricing techniques.
So, instead of placing price labels that reflect the price of the product, misleading price labels are used, leading the customer to think they are paying a price that is not the true price.
A woman shared her experience about purchasing a tray of boerewors from Woolworths. She admitted that she was in a hurry and did not read the price label.
Instead, she saw the red sticker with a SAVE price and assumed she was getting the Boerewors at a steal.
This led her to purchasing two trays of boerewors, thinking she was saving. She paid around R80,00 more than she thought she was paying per tray.
This is why it is essential to read all the labels before checking out your purchases; advertising tactics can be misleading, not to mention pricey.
