We know South African women to be resilient and innovative in all that they do and becoming mothers who still manage to work and run the home is not surprising to us.

But there is another niche of mothers that has become more defined in its nature: pet parenting.

And with this sort of parenting comes a whole new way of looking at our pets.

As pet parenting requires more from parents who have fur kids, we see some interesting things being shared on social media.

One woman shared that her dog was being naughty, which led her to strap him on her back like a mother would do a baby.

When she said naughty, we understood that to mean the little guy wanted some cuddle time with his human mother and kids are known for thriving on touch, so why not dogs, right?

Culturally, it is all well and good for a mother (or father) to carry their babies on their backs. It has helped many busy parents accomplish other things while bonding with their babies.

But we're not certain it is good for dogs and some people shared their concerns in the comments over the dog's spine and hips.

From our side, we don't think she was doing this for long periods, but merely as content to show people how needy dogs can be.

But it is important to distinguish that our pets are physically built differently and not all parenting hacks should be applied to pet parenting.
