Aaron Ali has been charged with assault after he ran over two elderly women in Kent.
A 40-year-old man named Aaron Ali has been charged with "assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault" after an incident in which he ran over two elderly women, Doris Collins (88) and Joan Benjafield (90). Doris and Joan were waiting for a bus outside a shop in Welling, Kent.
Aaron drove towards the two women who made way for him to pass by on his mobility scooter. But instead, he reverses first into one woman, knocking her off her feet, before hitting the other and then driving off.
Fortunately, Doris and Joan only sustained minor bruises from the incident. During a court appearance, Aaron claimed that he had suffered a "diabetic crash" and that was the reason for his behaviour: "I was having a diabetic crash. That was what was happening. Basically, I am on morphine… It makes you clumsy like a drunk."
