Oregon Zoo puts 'amazing and gothy' spin on things with animal X-rays

The Oregon Zoo just made animals much more fascinating by sharing these incredibly X-rays with the world.

A day at the zoo is often filled with adventure and almost too much information to handle. It can be so much fun looking at the animals, taking in all their special features, and just marvelling at the beauty of nature. And, for those more interested in what happens inside the animals' bodies, there is the option of going to look at skeletons.

But what if you could get the best of both worlds: looking inside an animal's body while also being able to see how its bones and muscles allow it to move in real-time? The Oregon Zoo offered visitors just this with its latest series of animal X-rays, which they call, "amazing and gothy".

Right in time for Halloween, the Zoo shared X-rays taken during routine health checks. The black and white images "uncovered the inner-workings of a range of critters and crawlers", adding an eery but beautiful dimension to the experience of going to the zoo.

These X-rays showed two important things: the inside of a python may be scarier than the outside, and a species of bats called "flying fox" really exists. That's creepy stuff
