Heavy rain, hail possible this afternoon

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned of the possibility of heavy rain, hail, damaging wind and flash flooding in Gauteng this afternoon.

"This is only a watch at this stage and will be upgraded to a warning once these storms occur," says SAWS forecaster Wayne Venter.
Heavy rain wreaked havoc in the east of Johannesburg yesterday.

Four people were killed in flash floods and the search for a 3 year-old girl from Alexandra is continuing.
Flood waters also swept vehicles off the N3 highway near the Linksfield turnoff.
The eastern parts of Gauteng, where the OR Tambo International Airport is situated, recorded 89.6mm of rain yesterday.
Venter says there is a 60 percent chance of thundershowers this afternoon, heading into the evening.
