Acting National Police Commissioner Khomotso Phahlane addressed SAPS members at the Castle of Good Hope.
Phahlane told police members not be afraid to act.
"If we are to act, the law will guide us. We will exercise maximum restraint. That's important," says Phahlane.

Phahlane told police members it will be a long day, but that it is for the good of the country.
"I request each of you not to shy away or be threatened. Don't fear anything when we execute our duties," says Phahlane.
