With conditions in the world rapidly changing, it is important to be conscious of the impact the we have on our environment. Being eco-friendly is very important to my family and I, especially over the festive season when you can easily forget to do your part.

Here are a few of my helpful tips to get you through this festive season in an eco-friendly manner.

1. Christmas trees

Christmas trees have always played a major role in being the center of the festive season attention, but they can also be very harmful to the environment. If you already have an artificial tree, try and use it for as long as possible, and if you can try and buy a pre-loved one, do that.

If possible I would also suggest growing your own tree or perhaps buying one that you can plant in either your garden or a park after you have used it.

2. Gift wrap

When looking for gift wrap in stores rather buy gift wrap that has been made from recycled paper. Also remember to recycle the gift wrap you receive after the festive season.

3. Feast leftovers

Transforming leftovers can be a great way to create new meals, save money, and cut waste. You can even have your guests suggest leftover recipes at your festive feast.

4. DIY decorations

Our favourites include Christmas stockings made from recycled fabrics, recycled glass baubles, and a recycled cloth advent calendar. You will soon see just how easy it is to have the house looking festive with eco-friendly decorations.

5.Cards are so last season

Christmas cards are expensive and normally just end up in the bottom of a draw or thrown out. Why not send E-Cards this year, or use recycled material to create that special message for your loved ones?

These are just a few easy ways that you can be a little more eco-friendly this year, so why not try a few of them out and let me know how it goes.
