BACKGROUND: Essential workers all over the world are the frontline soldiers in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic. These workers are at work every day, serving the public, making the wheels turn as well as they can, putting themselves and their families at risk. At the very tip of the spear, are the medical workers who serve and heal in different capacities. This is also true for nurses and staff at frail care and other special care facilities. One of these facilities is Absolute Care Oakdene, where 30 frail care patients, most of them battling dementia, are cared for. The day and night staff have to live in, as they cannot risk exposing their frail and elderly patients to the virus. The staff have left their own families behind, often under difficult circumstances to care for their patients. The Matron at Oakdene has asked Good Morning Angels for assistance with shields/visors for the nursing staff, but also to assist their families with food and essentials.
