BACKGROUND: Adel Cato is a 2nd year industrial psychology student at the University of Pretoria. “Vibrant, loveable, talented and very gifted”, are some of the words used to describe her, by those who know her. But, instead of studying for her finals, or playing netball for the Tuks team, Adel is lying in a rehab facility in Pretoria. She is fighting hard to recover from a coma she’s been in since 16 July - when she was knocked down by a car on campus in a freak accident.

Her dad, Frank says she’s at stage five of regaining consciousness: in other words, her eyes are open, she responds and speaks at times albeit in a whisper. He says the nursing staff are confident that she will reach the 6th and final stage of coming out of her coma any day now - which is very good news for her recovery. Good Morning Angels has received various emails from concerned listeners who know Adel and her family. They are all optimistic that she is a fighter and will work hard to make a full recovery, however, the medical aid does not cover all the bills and there is still a long road to recovery ahead.
